Quality control & assurance was one of our founding practices when our firm was established in the 1990’s. Since that time, we have conducted multiple engagements for automotive OEM and aftermarket suppliers. We have assisted numerous organizations in reducing scrap, obtaining QS/TS and IATF standards and reducing millions of dollars in non-conforming product. A good example of our ability to locate high potential Quality executives can be found in an engagement we completed for Tube Fab/Roman Engineering of Afton, MI. The company is a third generation, privately held manufacturing entity providing fabricated tubing and engineered assemblies to large Tier 1 automotive systems suppliers such as Aisin, Continental, Mahle and Cummins Engine.
Prior to our engagement, Tube Fab/Roman Engineering was struggling with the cost of poor quality which was affecting the profitability of the programs it was supplying parts for and the relationship with key customers. Additionally, it was hindering new business opportunities within its existing customers whose spending in their product area was up to 10x the business already awarded.
Over the course of this four-month engagement, we contacted the heads of quality within more than 100 organizations in both the automotive and aerospace industries. A successful hire was made and over the course of the last 3 years, the cost of poor quality has been reduced by approximately 300%! This has saved the company over $1M per year.
